By constructing the above URL, using CNN’s google search I have placed a link to foldedsquare.com on a page on the CNN domain.

When google come to this site, they will follow that link to CNN and find the page with a link to foldedsquare.com on it registering that link.

Doing that on a massive scale black-hat spammers could create thousands of links easily.

I obviously don’t recommend doing what I have just done above…
